Catholics are obliged to celebrate special feast days that do not always happen on a Sunday. These feasts carry great importance to living our full life in Christ, which is why they are mandatory - and therefore salutary - good for us! Below is a list of Holy Days of Obligation to be attentive to in the Church calendar:
- *The Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God (January 1)*
- The Solemnity of the Ascension (Thursday of the 6th week of Easter - moved to 7th Sunday of Easter in the USA)
- *The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15)*
- *The Solemnity of All Saints (November 1)*
- The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (December 8)
- The Solemnity of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ (December 25)
*When these feasts noted by an asterisk fall on a Saturday or Monday, the obligation to attend Mass is lifted.*
