What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is the sacrament of Christian Initiation that completes the grace given at Baptism. Confirmation perfects the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the baptized.
Who can be confirmed?
All the baptized may receive Confirmation. We confirm teens in the eighth grade, adults who are baptized Catholic but never received Confirmation, and those in the Christian Initiation (RCIA) process at Easter. The instruction looks a bit different for each group. See below for details.
Sponsors for Confirmation
The role of a sponsor is pivotal to the faith development of a confirmed person. Sponsors witness the Catholic faith to the baptized. Please visit the Sponsor Information page for sponsor requirements. Certificates may be obtained from the parish you are registered at.
Confirmation (2 Year Process)
Confirmation takes place each year in the Spring. It is facilitated by the parish and youth minister. Formation generally starts in September and is on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 9:30am to 10:45am for 8th grade and 2nd and 4th Sundays from 9:30am-10:45am for 7th grade. We ask that they stay for Sunday Mass at 11am on those dates. There is also an EDGE component to the Confirmation process. 7th and 8th grade are required to attend at least one of those nights a month. EDGE Boys meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month and EDGE Girls on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. This will help them foster community with other 7th and 8th grade students at the parish. For more information on what EDGE is, you can go to our EDGE Page. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred on April 27, 2025 at the St. John the Evangelist Cathedral in downtown Cleveland. Contact Michael Cox for more information.

Catholic Adult Confirmation
Anyone above the 8th grade is generally prepared one-on-one or in small group sessions by one of the parish priests or staff members. They would be confirmed at the yearly parish celebration in April or at the cathedral on Pentecost. If you are a Catholic adult who has not received the Sacrament of Confirmation, please contact us to make arrangements.
Confirmation for RCIA Candidates
For non-Catholics (baptized or unbaptized) wishing to receive Confirmation, contact Renee Barber, or for more information, visit our Christian Initiation (RCIA) page.
